Into The Woods

Into the woods with thoughts and words I take pen and pad in search of solace. Ever within live memories   that I hold closely to my breast…    Into wilds in search of comfort, there is tranquility amidst the trees. Circled by forest, alone but not,  resides kinship and true acceptance. Into shadows of boughs layered one decreasing limb atop the other,  refuge lies beneath the canopy. Intrinsic safety works for all.  Into enveloping arms held dear, the tree keeps natures elements at bay till all is calm and spirit renews, the liaison to the heavens. Into the fragrant soil and trees  coned and gowned in green's emeralds, golden browns, hides diversity, equally valued.    Harmony exists with difference. Into revived insight, there is order.

Hi Dellena. I can so relate to this piece! I see it as a definate renewal of self, and I see it as living and dieing. Into the woods with thoughts and words Into wilds in search of comfort, Into shadows of boughs layered Into enveloping arms held dear, Into the fragrant soil and trees .....and I am reborn! I really like it. Thanks for sharing it.

Dellena- I can stop at the title, “into the woods” and stand as a figurine to the stature and solace of what is before me. But then I’d miss you taking the pen to reinforce the majesty of the wind through the trees. I like that you find “tranquility amidst the trees”, it is something I understand and view from the moment I rise till the next tree I see. I wish I lived near a forest, but alas, I dream of trees once known. The “boughs” you allow as “canopy”, the entire stanza is a metaphor for those things that sheldter and abet the soul, the neediness met by the beauty and strength of the forest. You speak of the Arms as well, and liason with heavens, the fragrant soil that cedes the trees growth, like the family and memories that are innate to the formation of who we are. Lastly, and fully, is the harmony, the “revived insight”, that all is well put together, not only the forest- but the foundations of our lives, the metaphor you inhabit with love.

I live in the woods, I see, feel and hear what you are speaking of every day and I must say you have brought the forest to life with all its grand splendor. Tonight the snow falls gently here in Tully and come morning light small tracks will be seen as the wild ones crossed over the side of the road, the trees will bend from the new weight they carry, the birds will be singing their morning song to God and Pretty Girl will be amazed to find something new, cold and exciting to play in.............Harmony in life exists, we just need to take lessons from nature and befriend one another not only in time of need but always. Into the fragrant soil and trees coned and gowned in green's emeralds, golden browns, hides diversity, equally valued. Harmony exists with difference. Into revived insight, there is order. closing lines are so true and say it all. Wonderful piece, a must for the contest on my list. Thanks for posting and sharing........God Bless, Claire

Hi D....I have spent many peaceful hours in the woods. My husband was a hunter and even though I never harmed a thing I loved to go and tramp about in green timber as I found solace there. You have written all that in this remarkable poem. You have created images with your poetic pen and I walked beside you amongst the trees. Well done, my friend. I have been on the forum and I think we all need a little peace and tranquility. Cheers....mt

Dellena, This is stunning in all it's vivid and wonderful imagery. I felt as though I were there in the sanctuary of the woods beside you. Smelling th air, taking in all that incredible beauty, listening to it speak to my soul... "...one decreasing limb atop the other..." LOVE how you worded this! It was as if I were laying on my back on the forest floor looking up at the sky through the branches of the trees. "Into the fragrant soil and trees coned and gowned in green's emeralds, golden browns, hides diversity, equally valued. Harmony exists with difference......." This entire stanza wraps itself around me like a warm blanket full of the forest colors. One could almost "smell" the damp rich soil under our feet... Wonderful! And, yes...the harmony of the ecosystem itself. All the differences that make up the "whole." Well said! There certainly IS "tranquility amidst the trees," my friend. I have enjoyed this very setting many times, and have also found it both ever-inspiring and healing. Thank you for this splendid respit this morning, Dellena. I SO enjoyed this one in all it's elegant granduer, and soothing qualities. Warmest, Mary

Dellena, Bless you, just what the doctor ordered. Yes, into the woods, safe, serene, secure and I'm right behind you my dear, in fact I'll race you. Back to orgins forgotten; when we knew the value of the tree, it's counterpart to our lives and how it sustains us, makes us whole. Yes, I'll meet you in the woods, we don't have to say a word, the trees will guide us as they always have done....Bravo and I lay a dozen red roses at your feet. Lora
