Soul Love

It’s a sigh  that embraces a lifetime a hug  that transcends time a joy  that concurrently delights  a baby a toddler a teen and a man

Kenneth, I like the idea of this.......and soul love is joy but I'm not seeing or feeling joy as much anymore. It is a so troubled a world everyone is working to make it through the day. I do wish it were different. Your poem is a loving reminder of what once was and could be again. Either that or I'm in the wrong circles. You write like you are at peace.....and that is very good. Ken, I liked the juxtaposition of long and short lines, particularly the short, bang-bang catalogue in the last four lines after that slow burn of "concurrently." Wonderful ring of Richard Burton's Hamlet in that ending: "to give the world assurance of a MAN." You load that loaded word beyond the immediate needs of the poem, beyond the obvious use for an older male of the species. At least for me. Mark

Hi Ken......this one is a winner for certain as the emotional feelings are great.........the title is so fitting......Soul Love........Reminds me of a man I once knew a few years ago........the room would light up when he entered.........I can hear the sigh once more as our eyes met; a hug that stays with you long after he has left; your words also make me think of woman..........for who other then Mother and her love will follow you through birth into adulthood. Okay, enough for me, I really enjoyed this one and all it brought forth......directions are still flying...........thanks for posting, God Bless, Claire

Ken, So simplistic, soft almost carressing the mind, I like it. Well laid out, not nits from this corner. This is one of those poems a person just wants to wrap around them, definitely an accomplished pen. Thank you for this poem, it could become my comfort food...*smile*. Best always, Lora

Hi Kenneth..."It's a sigh that embraces a lifetime"...what an outstanding line that is! I never thought of "soul love" in that way but you have written it so beautifully in just a few words. Nothing more needs to be said...what profound and yet simple thoughts. I'm thinking you must have a beautiful soul. Glad to see a poem from your pen and this one is such a pleasure to read....well done. Cheers....Marilyn

Kenneth-- your words speak as few understand, that of the determination of charity does not choose via substrate, rather paints the object as the object requires. Love of the same substance, but love adorned as appropraite. "Soul Love" - the image is catching, "transcends", the product is contiguous- Maybe the last line should be "and a man, or woman". Either way your definition is portrayed well.

Dear Ken, I love the simplicity of this piece. It's thread is sentimental, soft yet profound in meaning. It reads well, without snags of any sort - making it a pleasurable read. I don't see any changes for this - or suggestions for making it better. You've written a good poem - easy to comprehend - and I completely enjoyed the read. Sincerely, Denimari
