Sarah Lost Her Mama

Sarah lost her mama, in the silence of the night when the moon was full and tender And it called her to soft light. * Sarah lost her mama but soon she found her near in all the things surrounding her in every breathe of air. * She feels her in the breezes that softly touch her fur and when she looks into the pond mama’s looking back at her. * Sarah, sees her mama in the stretch of evening sky among, the silver dancing stars as summer days draw neigh. * And, if she listens closely in the silence of the day Sarah, knows her mama is not very far away. * For she hears her mama speaking through the rustling of the trees and in the call of morning doves  when she wakens from her dreams.  * She hears her mama whisper as the breezes cross the bay and she sings among the rushes on a cool October day. * She will always be beside her to guide her as she grows with comfort, through the memories that only Sarah knows. * So Sarah, smiles and welcomes all the magic that surrounds and lets her soul be snuggled by these smooth and gentle sounds. * For Sarah knows the secret that the spirit never dies but rides upon a melody  of soft sweet lullabies.

Additional Notes:
This is an example of some of my writings for children. I have been playing with this of late, and would appreciate your feedback. I love children's books and it has been a bit of a passion for me to try and perhaps write one some day.

Nancy, Lovely and true! This is a way for children to deal with loss. It is a healing piece for man, woman, child. Fur threw me..She feels her in the breezes that softly touch her fur [plus too many 'her'] For Sarah knows the secret that the spirit never dies but rides upon a melody of soft sweet lullabies. [I'd use different than lullabies. Lullabies meaning night time. You need something all day time. Loved the rest of it! You can easily write chldren's books. Go for it! Dellena

Dear Nancy, Wow - this is going to be a tough month here, because already there are so many great poems. This is good - it reads without hesitation, it is clear in imagery, clear in content & meaning - your chosen rhyme scheme reads without hesitation or forced lines. These things make it good - the message given within the poem enhances it's ability to please the reader - both young & old. I'd say go for it - right now - and stop dawdling (smile), see how far your gift can take you! Writing for children has always been one of my favorite things to do - I should take my own advice at some point. Great job, sincerely, Denimari

Recently before the Easter celebration Matthew loss his battle with cancer and now this seven year old little angel watches over his family from above. This poem reminds me of Matty's mom and how she now finds her son in everything around her and more.......this would definitely be a winner for children of all ages for it deals with a subject that many find hard to speak of..........I've been following Matty's journal going on three years now and his mother continues to write daily in it. Matty left two brothers besides his mom, dad and grandparents, friends galore. The day of his funeral he closed the streets of Lowell so the procession would pass by without pause. I think you would do well with a children's book and the images and emotions created with this one alone is beautiful Nancy. Looking forward to more of your work in this area and my best to you for future publishing. God Bless, Claire
