Truest Fan

You've been the truest fan The Red Sox ever had When they won the World Series it was for you that I was glad You’ve cared for people all your life mother, father and child I know that we're all sorry  for the times we drove you wild But in truth we always listened though we wouldn't let it show you planted seeds of wisdom that took some time to grow Just think of all the people we pass your insight to I wonder if you really know but then again I’m sure you do The ripple of your life has spread around the earth as you traveled seeing children and as they in turn gave birth Another generation is forging their own way Thanks to you they have the strength to joyfully seize their day

Additional Notes:
I had the good fortune to be able to read this to my Mom before she passed. Like many of her generation she thought "real" poems should rhyme. She often said, "The only ones you can remember are the ones that rhyme."

Ken , I am so deeply sorry to learn of your mom's passing and I hope and pray you know she is in a wonderful place with those she loved in life that have gone on before her. What a wonderful tribute to her in life that you have presented and being able to read it to her while she was still with you must bring some peace to your own aching heart.........now your own journey continues and your mother's wisdom will remain within your heart forever. Take good care , God Bless, well done my friend, Claire

Ken, A nice poem of tribute for your mom. She sounds like a neat lady. Righteous, honorable, and no nonsense kinda gal. I feel your love and respect in your words. I'm sure she was pleased. You must miss her terribly. Good rhyme, good flow and meter. The title I interpet as you being one of her truest fans also... Nice job, Dellena

Dear Ken, I'm glad you posted this here. I had read it in the forum, and was quite taken by it. I like the straight forwardness of the style - there's nothing to sift through to find the true meaning of the poem. The emphasis on family - the core of this piece is honorable - due to the fact there are so many broken and extended families nowadays. It's a treat to read something as solid as this. Once again, my heartfelt sincere sympathy to you, on the loss of your mother. I can relate, just loosing my own mother recently - so I'm aware of the dreadful emotions that come with the loss. My best, May God comfort you & yours, sincerely, Denimari

Ken, This is such a wonderful tribute to your mother, I'm quite sure she would be very pleased with your writing here though it might have brought her to blush being an unpresumtion type person of great humility. Again, I would not change a thing nor suggest any chances as this is to close to your heart and should not be tampered with. God Bless. Lora

Hi Ken....I am happy to see you posted this poem here. If you have been to the forum you know I encouraged you to do so. It is a lovely tribute to your mom who must have been a fine lady. How wonderful that her family was beside her when the Lord called her home. I am so glad you were able to read this poem to her and the rhyming is well done so I know she was pleased. Your line..."The ripple of your life has spread around the earth"...is my favorite and I hope she got to see all her grandchildren. She had a full life and raising 10 children must have been her greatest joy. I know her spirit will live inside your heart forever. Blessings....Marilyn
