Light Behind Clouds

against the tears in my eyes I have placed a vision of you happy and free like this on the way home, I see a small patch of gray, like my mind, words astray as you fly so soon away in the sunset dawn come and gone orange linings shimmer as my love glimmers in sight of faint stars of the oncoming unknown night and the last movement of day tells me it's okay to let go, for now yet keep to the stars by day and the sun by night don't think how everything will be alright it is, it is, in this moment the ever present fountain in a silver finger I trace a path along the loving arms of the mountain home outlined by trees that assure me, we are not alone and with the slow and calm embrace of time you will come again, as will the sun and the fingers on your hand tracing a line in mine where we are always one

Additional Notes:
Today my love has gone away for almost 6 months, and I am here now, away from her, alone. Yet she is free, and I rejoice and am happy.

Regis, this is so lovely, this sharing of the love between two. You are right, your love will be sustained with this one, in your heart and mind, as something that was right and good between you. I wish you continued healing for it is always hardest for those left behind, and I know that if you continue to write poems as poignant and touching as this, it will come about. It reads with a gentle flow, a rhythm couched with rhyme in places that is unforced and natural. The startling juxtaposition of stars by day and sun by night as your memories bear you up, make us realize just how strong this love is. I like to think that when we live with someone, we breathe in the motes of their body and in a curious way they become part of our physical being. Yes you are one, right down to the molecules of your being. She is still with you. Lynda

Hi Regis...it is always difficult to say goodbye even if you are sure the one you love will return to you. I remember when my husband went to fight in the Korean war how devastated I was as I had no idea if he would return. He did return but it was a year and a half of agony for me. This poem is truly one that is written with much emotion, passion and love for your lady friend. You wrote it in free verse, in lower case and without punctuation. Ordinarily this could cause the reader to start and stop in all the wrong places but you have done a good job of letting the line breaks work for you. Hope the next six months go well. Marilyn
