Sleep was wonderful and Duane is keeping with the beat for April as well. Scan - in my opinon as the writer was an effort - that didn't quite meet the recoginition is was given. What is reflected here the most is that this site is still standing regardless of the losses; and for that I am grateful.

If this is indeed a poem, it is unique, different and strange, it has been many years since being on this site, I see a lot has changed, what I see is a deep introspection of points, critiques, what is deserved, what is given, what is right and what is wrong, I like rhymes, I am much more lyrical than poetic I guess, this writing does remind me of why I left and stopped critiquing, I think honest critiquing is one thing, but critiquing just for the sake of trying to get someone to change their work of art is something else. I have never changed any of my poems even after all the critiques because in my opinion, the end result would not be from me, it would be a completely new poem, I know I need to change and grow, but I just want to know if my poems are good or bad, there could be 100 different critiques with 100 different suggestions, which ones should we as a poet use and change our work of art, what if everyone is wrong and the poem is fine the way it is Just a thought Thanks Claus Ranswill

Hi Dellena, Thank you for voting 'sleep' as the number one poem for the month of march. I enjoyed writing it as much as I enjoy 'sleeping'. Duane.

Dellena, thank you for your kind consideration of my poem and I must say your choices virtually mirror mine with only slight exception. Standards do exist but it is up to each to develop the discernment required for employing such fairness. People's efforts deserve no less. When there are obvious disparities, I find it obligatory to challenge them in order to give our being here some meaning besides "stroking". Some of us have established a base of operation for obtaining that integrity. It's not that choices must agree but that they must be supportable. And part of education's responsibility is to teach an advised public that debate and challenge are not bad things but that they exercise mind, spirit and intellect. Without them, there can be no literary society of any kind. Just a frigging quilting bee. God knows, the internet has enough of those. JCH
