My vote for the month of January. I enjoyed reading all of the poems.
And especially learned from practicing the art and craft of critiquing
which is something I sincerely hope was okay from someone who innately
does not enjoy minute microscopic examination of poetry; but prefers the
poetic experience to be like a summer shower or an ocean wave or a bite of a
apple or the way leaves fall in the autumn when the wind stirs them up in the sunshine.
Poetry, as MSS has said, can have the touch of something Divine. The
nuts and bolts examination of it- while necessary to appreciation and writing;
can never dispute the fact that most all will always love best the poetry that touches
them in some way, whether through shiver or eureka, or heart or thoughts that
share feelings not known before -all given language. This is not anti-intellectual,
just a recognition that poetry is not easily reducible to an academic examination,
the presense of the Muse in any writing, simply adds something inexplicable.
A thank-you to JCH, for his heading-up the contest and his informative critiques,
and best wishes to all in their writing.
