The Truth

The Truth I listened to them every day To the hurtful things they’d say Even though I tried to hide it It seemed as though I could not fight it In some way they seemed to taunt me Every night they’d come to haunt me  Now I know the wound was merely Something I did not see clearly Slowly as I learn to cope  In myself I will have hope Now I know my dreams won’t shatter When they try to bruise and batter The truth is finally plain to see What I believe is up to me
