Edifice Wrecks

Intuition knows but cannot explain  What the intellect lays out stumbling  Over plans acted on before the strain  Of the social avant-garde rumbling  In the belly of the beastly minded  Architecturally plausible sighs  Surreal preferences excavate blinded  By lenses grounded in fairytale lies  Oh, edifice constructed of the dust  Of wishes pouring through grasping fingers  The tighter the clinch the bigger the bust  Booms! Off our hands the vibration lingers  No digits left to utilize our tools  Inheritance smoke blown away by fools

James, the remedial, which is how the loss of a substantial or inconsequential vehicle, whether by metaphor for the established icon or by physical destruction of a facility, is seldom remedial. The new does never justifies the loss, but it may; in some situations bring closure to a time, or a systemic replacement (often viewed as hope; metaphorically). It may be my view of the portion of time called my life; but when viewing the loss, in metaphor or in construction, a portion of me leaves with the time that is no longer indexed.

Hi James, I hate to see old buildings torn down or blown up, what happens to their history, I wonder? Is it gone forever or was it preserved by someone who cared? With just a little tweaking this could be a great sonnet. I like the theme, the well chosen words, rhyme and liquid flow. Your couplet is powerful and the perfect ending to this well written poem. Well done. Best wishes, cheyenne
