Where

where did time go I was looking ahead while forgetting to look at what was behind me to see many times and lives that had died ghosts were reaching for me but I couldn't be touched I have lost more than I could ever live I have buried more love than I could ever feel I have only seen tomorrow as I released the past I have given away more than I can ever return Cry, if the dead are still waiting Cry, if love lost is still unfound Cry, if your children are hoplessly wandering Cry, if your God keeps you alone Cry, if tomorrow is only now Cry, if yesterday remains unclaimed Cry, if you threw everything away Cry, if God wants you alone I am here where I'm suppose to be

Cry, if your God keeps you alone Cry, if your God wants you alone and yet I am here where I am supposed to be.. So many lines here that touch the depths of a soul burdened by grief.. So many actions we can take responsibility for, and still more that are not in our control. How much can one cry? Is that how poets came to be?

Hi Medard, I have just wrote a critique of another poem that was gut wrenching and now I feel the same about this one. You have obviously lost someone who was close to your heart and the grief is unimaginable. This is a strong poem with excellent word selection and an even flow. The last part of your poem could easily stand by itself and I see two poems here. You last two lines are uplifting and serves to show this reader that you are fine despite your loss. Well done. Best wishes, cheyenne

Medard, I really enjoyed reading this poem...it speaks to me on many levels. I especially feel connected to the lines "I have lost more than I could ever live" as they seem to capture the enormity of grief that I carry regarding my past and at times even my present. Thank you for sharing this poignant piece with us this month. Mandie

Very touching and emotional piece that touches the core and being of an inner place which can be moved by words such as these. I too, have buried too many over the past, too many in too short of a time. One my oldest son who was only 29. I understand the depth of these words. Reflections looking back, looking forward - no one knows what will ever be from day to day. Yet we have hope through any event in life that we can escape pain but we have no control. Crying the release is expressed very well - I don't hold my emotions in over the death of my son. I learned they had to be released in order for me to heal - it's a process. Yet tears of joy - are so overwhelming whey you have something that makes you so happy it makes you cry. This is very thought provoking and well written. It makes me wonder why we cry when we are in emotional pain and yet joy i.e. weddings, blessings, surprises make us shed tears as well. Very good poem, I really enjoyed reading this, Kudos & blessings on my list for July, Deni

Medard, As a prophecy, the piece sits in the mind of many readers. This is not a loss of intuition, rather an explanation of the sequence of time on living. I could, would, take nearly every line and grant an exegesis of your piece; that however, would be anticlimactic to the piece itself. Everything in the piece is what living and passing is to us all; and written in plain terms that all may understand the meanings. There are those around me who will not understand a lot of it, might even fight part of it, who have not known much of it. That is not me and, I can respond confidently, even those who cannot feel the passion of each moment, will in the future- know each line you have written. It is a wonderful, reflective piece. Thank you for sharing it. Damn, time; where did it go?
