If You Know

We can enjoy the success of others Wish them well without resentment But there is only one time when we desire  that someone surpass us That someone do more and have more of everything than we ever did or could If you know, immediately what I’m talking about Chances are You are a parent

This is very well done. Literature resounds with mother day poems, but when I read a good father figure piece, it rings much louder. I appreciated not only the sentiment, but the simplicity of the piece. It is straight forward and endearing. A parent knows, now that is a concept worth trumpeting.

Most definitely a parent - and proud as well after single parenting my daughter is an RN, after going to school while raising three sons, dealing with MS, and is doing quite well in her chosen career. Seeing my oldest son volunteer with a Fire Department at age 16 and moving up to Chief of Fire/Rescue/EMS by age 27 (RIP 4 years Aug. 6th, 2011 Shaun) and now my youngest on a path - and overcoming obstacles for a young man of 20 - With pride from one parent to another - May God continue to shine these blessings in your life. I imagine you were a great role model - and I'm feel happy when I read this poem. blessings, Deni P.S. I'll pick at you later for you being away too long. (smile)

Hi Kenneth, This poem certainly does speak the truth. A parent will go through most anything to protect their child and to spare them the toils and snares we call life. We want them to be successful in all they do. This is a nice poem and I did enjjoy redaing it. Best wishes, cheyenne
