On the Death of a Minor Poet Laureate

we were angels, unawares, except the guy who studied  at berkely: he was Arch, and thought he could bend  trumpets. what a sonofabitch.  he was published, and  those who blatantly  wanted to be published, and those who didn’t really know if they wanted  to be published (but thought they should, so they sorta wanted it) regarded him as the  pinnacle of  achievement.  it was if the apostles had done different,  and sold the  Holy Ghost to simon magus, and now magus  was spreading the Word.  but some  things don’t go different: when berkely tried to levitate, frogs fell out  of the sky  and hit  the  ground B.B., before berkely, but sure as shit berkely  followed. then berkely was published  in a  bucket. and only angels are aware if he is  aware, or  no.

I guess I should complain to you that you haven’t left a note- and although I can comment on your comments concerning the poet- I would prefer to read some of his work and make an informed comment. That said, as usual your verse is compelling and I can comment on your comments on the poet who has passed. What struck me first is your commentary on Berkeley. I probably have a similar thought process- but then when reading the poet laureates who have spent time there, there have been some who have not lost their minds; so my comment would be on modern Berkeley rather than it persona. You also have a commentary on the afterlife, albeit; a hidden grain in your piece. My replie to that is “I hope so”- and pray every day for the proof of it all. The only thing I know about the anonymous poet (who by the way, I tried to locate from your hints)- was that those bent on making a political statement, elevated him to that position- what you don’t allude to is whether his craft might had done it had the preferential treatment not been utilized. As always a piece that makes me think. I think, that is always a good thing, except when I prefer not to.
