In Light Unite Eyes now illumined in dark of night be still terror, be still fright. Days fraught in hell need no more fight as we step firmly into light. Light the way for truth to stay; broken heart will mend from frayed edges entwining, twisting their way, bring forth whole, new life today. Today we seek for to know what lessons learned from far below, facing demons with strength in tow turning to light as we grow. Grow into our own with faith to stand upon the earth, this hallowed land. Give up the mortal schemes we’ve planned reach for each other to grab a hand. Hand in hand, we look to the skies removing the masks and all disguise. Together our strength we realize in dark of night with illumined eyes. |
Additional Notes:
Another contest piece, this time we were given a random number to read one of the contest host's poems. The number I received led me to the following poem. In Light Unite was inspired by this poem.
Illumined Eyes, Fly With Me by Joshuavk @ allpoetry.com
Fly on wings of heavens' delight,
Fly away, into the light,
That blinks in your eye, oh so bright,
Come now with me, we shall take flight,
And fly out in boundless night.
Caress the air with the wings of me,
Touch my feather, see where eagles see,
Rest on my shoulder, feel entirely free,
Fly with me on wings of eternity,
As hopeless world we now flee.
Let stars reflect in you gorgeous eye,
As on feathered wing, you softly lie,
Staring up at beguiling moonlit sky,
Feeling the air touch you, as we fly,
For moments like these, anyone'd die.
As on my shoulders, starry eyes lay,
I carry you out of worlds' wretched fray,
I fly on and on, till the light of day,
Fly from refreshing April, to soothing May,
And softly, ''I love you'' you'll hear me say.

What an immense step towards progress in self-healing with words that are comprehensive with your message being found in the first few lines. It's a good way to perceive life in general and you have accomplished a nice piece of poetry with finding light - and giving that light out to others via this poem.
