Two mothers... united

One mother to give me life and one to shape my life too old to be molded now I stand with one on each side Two strong women of different worlds United by a single daughter and a wasting disease Neither nurtured me with mother's milk but I've been cradled lovingly as I cried Finding a safe place near a heartbeat my face pressed  against  a soft bosom But the landscape changed First one and now the other Offering a right breast to stop a dread disease Two mastectomies for two mothers One daughter left shell-shocked as cancer spreads

Additional Notes:
My Mom had her right breast removed a few yrs ago... she is 70. My birth mom is having her right breast removed this tuesday. She is 42. And I am finding it all difficult to deal with.
