The Morning
The morning touches me
like an apologetic lover
Her gray and wistful eyes
promise the softness of rain
Her wind is breath
on my skin
sweet with love
warm with possibilities
Though her I walk
my feet not noticing the earth
My coat tails are tugged at
by invisible, insistent hands
My solid form slowly
turns to liquid
liquid gives way to vapor
that is lost amid her
whisperings

Of course, being egotistical, I would suggest appreciative instead of "apologetic" lover. I like very much the images of "my feet not noticing the ground" and "liquid gives way to vapor". The reader is going to want to know more about this affair...that's your real success. JCH

Joe,
I like the imagery of this poem.
I am so not a morning person, but it makes me want to be one...it arrives to greet me gently and sweetly and allows me to meld with and begin my day.
Thank you for sharing.

This is a clever poem with an intro that draws a reader in yet somehow at the same time while reading on I was a bit confused of where your message was taking me. Realizing that all writers use words that specifically mean something (that the reader doesn't always find) I would love it if you would expand more of the message in this piece. Good choice of words, flows nicely but I felt like I missed something by the end of it unless the poem was about morning and how it makes you feel.
