Dragon’s Flame

The dragon’s nostrils flare  his breath exuding hot air trying to set souls on fire while hungry eyes seek a power higher Tears cried, do not matter their memories ‘coming sadder living only for a state of grace dragon’s fire can’t enter this place Mistakes made, the path sometimes lost paid the price, soul’s spirit almost the cost As the dragon’s fire seeks to blaze hitting thy knees, singing out the Lord’s praise Washed by the water  his essence absolving sin A soul soars at angel’s sound Thanking Yahweh, no longer “Lost but Found”

Beautiful spiritual poem and I enjoyed the anticipation of what you would write next from beginning to end. Inspiring! The message comes to mind of how the flames will try to jump up and bite us in the ass- yet we know that with hope comes grace and thankfulness - to be witness and unfailing in our praise with prayer - being cleansed to original purity - Your imagery stands out and I completely enjoyed this poem. blessings, Deni

I understand that religious poetry is under to with without sounding obvious or contrite. However your poem has a great deal of originality and one can feel the heat of the Dragon"s awaiting breath. Well done and an excellent read.

Hi Lora, you have penned a fabulous poem and one I enjoyed from the first line to the last. You have made good use of poetic devices in alliteration and enjambments. I like that you didn't use punctuation which can clutter up the flow. You have a solid rhyme and the metaphorical dragon is brilliant. Well done. Best wishes, cheyenne
