The Poet as Gauge

How do we know our species has arrested growth? When a generation of poets are not radically different     from that generation before. JCH

Additional Notes:
In a society like ours today, with all its attendant madness, the oblivious poet is like a muted mass media anchor person, an empty presence. Look back on all the poets remembered today. Were they oblivious to social concerns and pressing issues of the day? Hell no. JCH

I think it all depends on who you are reading. You for instance are always challenging always pushing the limits of polite poetry. Your works makes me think of new directions all the time.
