My Father's Hand (Words of an unborn child)

My father's hand is gentle as my tiny, unborn smile welcomes his loving touch. As he massages me, my mother's hand finds his and they both rest their palms upon my slight form. I cannot speak but my heartbeat answers their love and we are united. I am warm... bound to these people who will cherish me all the lovely days of my life. Nurtured by her warm body... I am growing stronger. Soon I will be in their arms, three hearts will swell with love. We will be a family.

Previously posted on the Allpoetry website. Wanted to post a positive view that an unborn infant might have. Pray that this would happen most often.

What a wonderfully creative topic! What expecting parents haven't wondered what their child in the womb thinks and feels? I like the line "I cannot speak but my heartbeat answers their love..." Can you incorporate the "kick" in this one? Maybe include it with the heartbeat? "I cannot speak but my heartbeat answers their love" adding something like "I reach for them, their touch, their warmth..." and the union could come when the parents feel the infant's response. Just suggestions mind you...this is truly a lovely piece!

What a warm and wonderful post. This was my first poem to read on this fine Sunday morning. The poem says so much without being political. Using the power of love to make its powerful point. Beautiful

Another well thought out and excellently scripted offering from your accomplished pen. Your descriptive word choices along with the way you've presented them; lends to an easy flow and creates a warmth for the unity of which you speak. No suggestions, well done and very enjoyable. Lora
