Punitive Damages

Write to me your words clash and crash around and I fall short as I listen Sentences sentence me to moments of chilled anxiety Your darkness your routine pleads too often to rejoin or respond to what you have said As I listen your voice fades away overly killing their purpose conversations die within a place certain to death Write to me perhaps it will be less painful to read

Deni- As I read this piece, over and over again it takes on a personality of its own. On the one hand the plaintiff’s cry is enveloped in the desire to commune. On the other hand, it is obvious from the content that there is an inadequate communication occurring. This interaction is deemed insufficient, maybe even insignificant to the need. Of darkness I am familiar. Hoping when one knows the hope is really the entirety of the content desired, is something to be shelved, or else despair takes over. “Write to me, perhaps that will be less painful to read”. You have written a very powerful, personal piece.

I truly think this is one of the best I have read from you. I have had friends like this but your poem gives their perplexing ways words. I have read this poem over and over because of how you so artfully you wrote it. Thanks for an excellent read

Deni your poem flows easily for me, your well chosen words are explicit in their meaning. Between the layers there is that tortured cry, things that you don't say; that silent scream. Inside the soul the truth is known, exceptance does not always give release... so yes-- write to me, perhaps it will be less painful to read. Bravo, nothing I would change. Lora
