What I Don't Say

People ask how I'm doing just to be kind. Not wanting the truth so I tell them I'm fine. I don't tell them I'm hurting nor speak of the pain. I don't mention the tears which pour down like rain. We don't talk about sadness or how my mind screams so loud in my head forever it seems. Instead we just smile and go on our way. A sigh of relief for the things I don't say.
