Placidity

The cannon sounds The shell screams The soil thrusted airborne The soldier explodes The blood spurts forth The wind blows The poppies sway All is calm All is quiet All is gone The fear The terror The pain The blood The wind The green fields The placidity The graves The soldier scared The rifle shrieking The cartridge piercing The poppy fields The calm placidity The orange horizon War cries and blood stains still haunt The peaceful front

Additional Notes:
This may not be one of my best pieces, but this is how I feel about the devastation of international conflict. The fact that we never get over it, or can, and the mass destruction it leaves behind, even in the 'survivors'.
