Chicken of the Sea

“Chicken of the Sea” In a crowd of many faces There are some you can’t ignore. They’re magnetic altogether. The sea that pulls the shore. And in this sea, are many fish, You stare as they swim by. You know that one will change your life That staring can’t imply. Their beauty lies external: Tuna in a can. You can’t tell one from the other Until the label has no brand. The one that stands alone,  Unique from all the rest. The one that you can see right through, And truly can’t digest. Because your stomach is now a knot And the fish was just a test. To show how your true love Will stand out amongst the rest. A can it was, of course a can,  Or else it’d be too easy, To find the one that does not fit With Bashful, Dock or Sneezy. To look into a crowd of eyes,  and connect with only two. To see the can from inside out That’s looking back at you. That’s the moment we fall in love: Seeing us in them and back, Looking past the sea of needles Into life’s haystack.
