Lord...

Lord,  forgive me  when the pettiness of others  causes me to react  in like manner... How much better I feel  when I let irritation  slip over my head  and out of sight... Forgive me, Lord,  when I become  like a sponge,  absorbing the put-downs  of the moment... The useless resentment  they build  seems justified  at the time,  But...The anger that follows  will have to be squeezed  and wrung out like a sponge  to make me usable for you again... Lord, wax me with your tolerance so these everyday irritations  slip off of me and are forgotten... Leaving plenty of room  for the more cheerful  and happy moments... When someone is heading  my way with anger...  Help me to meet  them halfway with love...  ...Amen © 1975 Donna Friedrichs
