The desecrated temple

The desecrated temple cannot re-make itself pure to relieve its sorrows in a bath of tears A discarded ruin of once innocent pleasures buried in the dirt of society Cleanse your mind purify your body cry gentle tears bathe your soul The desecrated temple longs to be renewed to be seen through eyes that ignore the filth and grime Noble carvings shattered stained glass windows trampled pews forgotten prayers Forlorn dreams empty promises burning crosses misguided beliefs The desecrated temple of unheard prayers of unwashed skin and unfulfilled dreams Banished desires forbidden fruits holy water whispered curses Hear me, God hear my prayers feel my tears save my soul Why me, God where did I go wrong why was I punished so many times, so many ways Unheard prayers ignored pleas for mercy shattered innocence forgotten beliefs The desecrated temple weeps ever so quietly ever so silently praying for relief
