The Canvas The Canvas Water color pictures And faded memories Are cluttering up my mind And spilling through my eyes. Shades of red and blue Stain my canvas face; Hiding the signs of youth And smearing it with age. Diluted by resistance And mental disarray, Memories of my youth Reluctantly fade to gray. Faced now with reality, My tears have dried and gone. A new image shelters me-- I think I'll despise this one. 12-19-2000 |
