A Silent moment

A silent moment in the day,       Oh how I seek it in everyway.       Children screaming, dogs barking,       cars honking, jets roaring,       train whistles blowing.             Radio blaring,       T.V. glaring,       telephone ringing,       baby crying,       cat meowing,       dog hollowing.       Dishes waiting,       food baking,       bed making.             Fourteen cups of coffee later,       and no more food to cater.      At last it’s late and finally quiet,      as I flop down in my old stuffed chair.        I shut my eyes and try to relax, but      the echoes of the day still howl in my ears.      A silent moment I still seek,      two aspirins and off to bed for      a silent moment of sleep.      I hope!
