Speak Softly When You Leave Me

Speak softly when you leave me, there's no need to make a scene. We haven't ever argued so let's keep our record clean. Why things must now be different I'm not sure can be explained. And reasons why are pointless if your freedom must be gained. It just seems sad to scuttle what was such a worthy ship because of fears that haunt you if you dare complete the trip. But fear not, I won't taunt you.  I just thought you understood that life is what you make it, be it evil or for good. Alone you can't experience the joy that is life's dance. And you won't find fulfillment if you do not take a chance. So twirl your cape and step aside and deftly turn away. Avoid the love that sought you, live to flee another day. I hope someday you figure out the reasons that you fear the trappings of commitment and hold solitude so dear. I hope someday you understand that love is worth the chance. I wish for you the perfect mate with whom to dance the dance. Steven M. Chenowith March 7, 2000
