Believe Me When I Say

Believe me when I say that all your pain is mine and that I filled my cup with all the tears you cried. There is a reason for your pain and I hold it in my cup; with it I watered the flowers that were weak and needed love. I watched as suddenly they grew strong beautiful and tall. Then somehow it occurred to me this was no miracle at all. Because it was your strength, your determination and your pride; that gave these flowers life when they would have withered and died. I'll never forget your pain or the many tears you cried because now I drink from the cup that holds what you felt inside.

Additional Notes:
This was written in memory of a man I knew who died from a painful liver disease. He was a man whom I thought could feel no pain.
