The Wedding Cake

"There has to be a fruit cake Is what she said to me It's our Scottish heritage passed down our family tree It's something very special prepared with lots of love But no one knew back then Her help would come from up above That was in the Winter when the plans fell into place For her Grandson's wedding that would have such style and grace She was looking forward to the day they said their vow But no one knew back then the sadness everyone knew now Spring went by and Summer came The months had just flown by Then suddenly she wasn't well and no one would know why The Lord would take her home with Him but little did we know The thoughts she had for those she loved before she had to go The time had come to now prepare a special cake to be Traditional and filled with fruit for everyone to see Her Daughter went from store to store but much to her dismay There was no fruit in any store she closed her eyes to pray "Where are you Mom? I need you now,  Just help me with this please" And what transpired on that day will bring you to your knees A package in the freezer with a note on it to take Was filled with fruit, the note said for my Grandson's wedding cake
