Her Prison

Imprisoned by her fears She lives alone and wonders Is this all there is to life? Is there nothing more for me? Slowly and with pain she walks to the window And searches for a reason to hope again. She sees nothing but a cold and empty world. A world she threw away so long ago. I won't let them hurt me, she thought As she protected her tender heart from pain. Locking herself behind the prison walls Of defensive loneliness. Age has now invaded her body Sapping the strength and beauty she once possessed. She hears the call of death approaching And only her prison walls hear her sad laments. Fear has locked her in her prison Forcing her to die alone. Since she has run away from the world, She has nothing to lean on but herself. And her prison walls move closer.....
