Winter's Trees

All the trees stand barren striking a curious pose Not much more than shadows of once thriving souls. Their flesh all in tatters spread out about thier feet Raked into piles and blowing down the bussy streats. What could have happened to these beautiful trees? What could have done this, how could this be? The lush green foliage stripped and now is gone Left to rot in gutters, backyards and the lawns. The beauty that once was is no longer to be seen The relentless strength of fall is cruelfully mean. Although stripped of their leaves they stand magnificently proud Reaching high from the cold earth upwards into the grey clouds. They withstand all forms of weather; rain, snow,  wind and hail Enduring all of winters punishments, come spring to avail. To once more wear their foliage, their flowers and seeds Could you live as honorable a life?  The life of a tree.
