Ice Bound

A poem is needed About an emotional journey From somewhere HERE, to somewhere THERE. By smell, by touch, by inspiration Words shall cross this blank page. *** Arctic wind is howling through great wastes of nothingness, snow flying on the horizontal. White piles upon white, piles upon white-not smelling slightly sharp until heated by the hot breath of mottled huskies into a rich, raw, rank and meaty stink of black tongue and red gullet  The white of silence sounds cold sharp-cracking like pressured translucent ice ridged snow crunching up energy and time. Life force fights back loudly, raucous in quick panting breaths, singing the yips and snarlings  of defiant, unthinking passage. Attending the white journey  A human rides the sled or runs behind, breathing in knives, breathing out thin fog peering out at whiteness through slit glasses wondering if the destination still exists or even if the departure point was real. Like fragile white bubbles trapped in bluest ice, he has surrendered to the power of white imagining himself traveling on forever like black writing on a blank page.
