"The Inner City"
Outside, where puddled light from street lamps glistens on the slush made by the passing traffic, downtown scenes take on a hush as if in preparation for the night when stores will sleep; locked safe and sound behind barred doors...while cops their vigilance keep. The city's beautiful, when lights are looked on from a hill that's several miles away. It seems inviting, lovely, still. But night and shadows hide the ugly truth...that drugs and crime are running rampant through its streets at any given time. Each lonely individual's much like this city scene - well-kept upon the outside - but not really what they seem. The vagrant heart beats hidden or unnoticed from our view, not recognized for its intrinsic value - sad but true. The inner city of each soul is tragically unkept and, throwing money at it does no good, 'til needs are met. It takes a moral education to redeem a soul from wanton disregard for truth and life - a higher goal. The lights may be "turned on" in some, but no one's in the house! In others, flames of anger rage with no controls to douse the fire which consumes them - the injustice of mankind - those who refuse to lend a hand and live as if they're blind. It's time to take a good look at ourselves...in broad daylight... instead of hiding what we truly are inside the night of our denial. Roll our sleeves up and make the repairs..from inside out. Then let all mankind know we really care!
