THE BRASS RING It's right there It's the brass ring Reach out, reach way out ...and grab it It's good for another ride Hang on to it for good, because it may be your last Wooden ponies cavorting up and down ...going nowhere but in circles While the music blares and the children scream in delight I think of the danger of reaching for that ring ...so that I can have one more ride Life is like that - just one more ride One more ride of choices and chances No security here, you might fall off But take a risk - it can be fraught with danger Happiness lies ahead for the person who grabs ...the golden ring |
Additional Notes:
I am sure many of the younger readers won't have a clue what I'm talking
about. This is about a "merry - go-round ride" seen at all state fairs, and the
ring was for real; it did give us one more ride if we had the courage to
grab it.
I also chose to turn the "brass" ring into "gold" on the last line for
obvious reasons.
