Behind the Bars

Empty face devoid of hope Nameless faces By numbers known Suits of orange, blue or grey Most forgotten by the world Families and friends long gone from them All alone within those walls Razor wire, steel and chains Open doors are no more Locks and keys control their walk A part of life they can't escape Vacant eyes so many have All hope is lost to their mind The outside world a vague memory now What used to be is no more Within those walls they will stay Redemption a long ways away Until the day God comes and releases them At mans mercy they will stay
