softly

softly softly treading lightly through the darkest days peering in windows hiding in shadows hoping for a glimpse of empathy if i stay silent and quiet and invisible perhaps they won't poke me through the bars of the cage they have put me in  softly softly crying soundlessly about all the things i've missed wishing for light longing for friendship living in an endless exile if i was pretty and plain and normal perhaps they would give me the key for the lock of the cage they have put me in

Additional Notes:
this poem was inspired by this article: www.detroitnews.com/2001/schools/0103/07/a01-196600.htm it's for all those who were bullied and teased in school for being different. it was written deliberately without punctuation or capitals to get across the idea of trying to hide and being made to feel very small.
