The Mountain in My Mind Every day I climb to the top of the mountain in my mind. For decades I’ve tried to understand the puzzles that I find. Memory takes me back to all the events and people left behind. Back to the golden days of my youth when life was full of joy. When time stood still and I ran, laughed and played as a little boy. Time quickly passed; school, career, wedding, children and all the things that I thought would forever last. But fate comes in many forms and sometimes wears a tragic mask. Then came the heartaches and agony of that Asian war. Across the ocean I sailed and in that place of horrors, my life changed forever more. Decades have quickly passed and I often wonder what it was all for. Now the mountain top seem higher and harder to climb. I wonder if I’ll ever understand the puzzle of life's rhymes. Given time, I think the answers may still lie at the top of the mountain in my mind. |
