#28 Concealed Concern

I saw him today. The Audie Murphy of Abilene, Texas. Old, broken down, bad back, bad foot, he's still in fatigues. Forgotten by his country. Forgotten by his neighbors. At least five major, ribboned medals boxed on the wall. No chance to even descretely examine. Afraid to ask. I don't know if he shot Krauts or Japs. He may have been the one who shot up this neighborhood last year. I can't help him. I'm scared of him. He's not all there. Wonder where he left it? Wonder if anyone's helped him look for it? I'll just vaccinate his dog and go. I doubt he'll give me a medal for that, but I hope his back gets better.  I feel for him, but I don't dare reach him. Kind of an empty feeling to be carrying  a concealed concern. How do I get the safety off this organism?
