Remember?

Before my heart failed We were in love... Or in love with love ...competition? Pumping iron, hours in the gym. Fifty-mile bike rides. Rain or shine. Running, ten-miles, sometimes more. Together, we conquered the obstacles we encountered. We hit the "wall," kept going. Won nearly all our races. Two forty-year old, lean, mean, fighting machines. Home in our bed, making love, though exhausted, sometimes collapsing  prior to completion, locked together. Ultimately, we failed  the most important obstacle... My body gave up, and so did you, Deena. I cried when you left after my heart surgury, but saddled with an invalid, I almost left myself.
