IN A NEW MILLENNIUM

A moment in time that undoubtedly will never  pass again, at least in our fragile days... Seconds, seeming larger than life, represent but a mere speck in God's grand plan~ lest one syllable in a Shakespeare sonnet. The clock, it strikes twelve, and the world instantly  changes... A new millennium falls upon us and the turn of the century manages to find itself within our grasp. The young ones, previously dazed by the days' challenges, find clarity once again so as not to miss the hype. They blow horns and throw confetti while hugging and kissing one another. They realize, as best they can, that this historical moment will never cross their paths again. Two grandparents find one another amidst the chaos to reconnect their spirits, and spouses attach themselves, if only briefly, to celebrate a private confirmation of their commitment. An adolescent, so typical of the stage, half joins in while the other half rests comfortably on the sofa. I mingle and I turn because my connections transcend all the lives that share this instant. And perhaps, most touching of all, a son, a father himself, tells his father  that he loves him... This memory, choreographed to perfection and splendidly authored, recount an event etched now, on the pages of our lives~ We store it and we recapture it whenever the need arises... Life, simply a series of empty space, is only as precious as the remembrances that consume it and I, captured by the experience, feel privileged to add this moment in time to my life's repertoire.
