Rendezvous She said she would meet me at the same place at 18:00 hrs so next day I went to wait for her by the statue of some Visigothic horse god or a Roman debauchite whooze portrait was engraved on the backs and the forths of their coins (and gaudy postage stamps, too) But she never showed up and I was afraid leave for fear that she might've arriven just seconds after I'd've gone so I kept on keeping on waiting but she never showed but-- any loss of my dignity was dampered somewhat because I didn't remember her name or even who the statue was named after either. |
Additional Notes:
Two different versions of this poem have been published in
Poetry Guild Anthology, Poet's Haven, A Writer's Choice, Poetry Motel,
and Sabine Magazine. Also it had for a title, "Statua, Status, Statuarium"
but I was afraid I mighta got the Latin declensions wrong. This version
I made up as I entered it today. I just HAVE to edit when I re-copy one
of my poems; cannot stop myself! Gawd!!
Also, I'd like to mention that I was the one who invented the expression
"Keep on keeping on," and am surprised how fast it has spread round the world.
It has by now, become almost a journalists' cliche.
