You Didn't Know...

You didn't know how much we loved you. Pain blinded the vision of what life could be. Desperation crept in, slowly stealing rational thought,  leaving only darkness. No strength left for battle, in a heartbeat your   pain was over, mine only beginning. You didn't know my world would cease to be. Life, now an endless ribbon of time,   must appear normal for those who seek healing. You didn't know time does not heal all wounds,  it only dulls the pain. Every experience unshared only reinforces the loss. I reach for you, finding only silence. The battle you fought now passed to me,   unwillingly, a hardened soldier. Weary, but victorious, I will meet you at my life's   end - then you will know.
