Summers Meal Flashing fireflies silently taunt, Catch us if you can. Ravenous mosquitos drop by to dine. (Unwanted patrons who leave an itchy tip.) A clingy June Bug gets tangled in my hair–Yuck! His legs wrap my fingers as I frantically set him free. Choirs of locusts fill every tree. Their never-ending hymn makes me want to shout, Qui--et! Motionless air laced with sweaty humidity, boldly announces... Summer’s consumption of Spring. |
