Love and Lilacs

     We wandered through the yard today.   Then you broke off a lilac spray   And handed me the lovely bloom,   That radiated sweet perfume.   It was a symbol, I could see,   Of something happening to me,   For every time we have to part,   You break off pieces of my heart.
