Regret is not Enough

Alone now with her thoughts and tears she tries to hide, a sense of overwhelming loss, the loneliness inside. Her perfect world just recently came crashing to an end, when she lost her love, her life, the one she called best friend. It happened unexpectedly;  Rick, driving home from work, a stranger drove beside him and there the killer lurked. Drunkenly and without thought, he made a deadly choice It was too late, he screamed, panic in his voice. He drove his car without control into the one of Rick's, there sat a mangled heap that regret could never fix. The paramedics tried to help the body that was maimed, despite heroic efforts, it was all in vain. They covered up the body, silent, with no life one searched him for identity and  saw the picture of his wife. Now she is left all alone, one,  once a part of two, all because the stranger drove with more than just a few.
