Path to Fire A reminder each winter's end A tortured boy would never mend A puzzle that remains with his friend A chilling night terminated an abusive trend A mystery always since we met A view of life I'll never forget A tragic series of events many regret A beaten kid on a road to a deadly bet A morning ride to school at times scary A buddy who shared the torment of Gary A fright to watch the rage he had to carry A horrendous image of a cigar being a sweet berry A jungle in a yard in which to hide A discovery by my pal's dad, a time I cried A campout with a dreaded shower I must confide A childhood chum crumbling inside INTERLUDE TO TEEN YEARS... A night at the opera left them alone A trick with lysol set a future tone A strange way to share a bone A disconnection on a teenager's phone A necessary avoidance I had to make A world of alcohol and drugs I'd not take A decision which only brought others to shake A period of isolation rather than being fake A passing wave every now and then A choice of strengthening the power of my pen A positive selection of role models made me a "10" A fury of others made me feel like Barbie's Ken A graduation with honors at Washington High A different road my friend passed by A shocking night under a blustery Chicago night A suicidal dousing of lighter fluid left John to die! A SHARED FIRST NAME, A VER DIFFERENT GAME... |
