Memories Sustained Him The torn and ragged paper lay in his wallet still, the ink had faded over time, the words were somewhat blurred. He knew exactly what it said, he'd carried it for years. Beside the picture of his love was the note from her to him. It simply said he was her love, the one she'd cherish always, the one that promised all her care, to always stand beside him. It was signed, Forever yours, With all my love, from Jan. A single tear rolled down his cheek as emotion overcame him, he loved her and he missed her so, but he knew that she was with him, and so he smiled through his pain, as he knelt before her grave, and lay a single rose upon the stone, and whispered back his love. |
