Mals II - Analysis Blues - SSgt ? And Crew

Talking on the phone With my oldest son Listening to His woes I was having fun. I've been where he is And know the old story But he's very happy Serving Old Glory. On arriving to work As I was told Mr. Scratch did him in He was ready to fold. But fearless is he Who picked up the reign And with the new day He knew he would gain. He talked with his men For serious is he Let's not do it again Tis great pain, you see. He loves his new Captain Who runs a tight ship But low and behold She gives him a fit. The projects are endless Which boggles his mind But who knows his thoughts As how he unwinds. And as I understand With his crew around Some of their words  Are not too profound. So with a round can Made of good size Go many donations For words not wise. He called me and said, 'See you at five' But with the new Captain He took a nose dive. He called me again And said, 'Dear Ol Dad, Can't make it over But I'm not mad'. The day was very long For my men and I But marines through it all Til the day we die. He was thinking about Saudi But reversed his thought Ain't no scuds here To make me a blot. So after much thinking It ain't too bad He does have his boat Which makes a nice pad. There he can go At least for a day Then start over again To earn his pay. I've run out of verse But gave it a fling And did I have fun With this silly thing.        Signed, 'Dear Ol Dad'

Additional Notes:
Necessary background information before reading this poem: 1. The ? mark in the title is my sons last name and had to be left out to not identify me. If the poem were published his last name should replace the question mark. 2. The MalsII in the title is the acronym designating his place of work at El Toro marine corp base which is now closed. 3. The poem was written during the time of the Desert Storm confrontation ten years ago. 4. There will be a reference to a person called Mr. Scratch. This person unintentionally erased the hard disk in the computer room which my son was in charge of.
