The Soul's Internal Hourglass

Time is of the essence Soul uplifted and taken Sited by an unholy presence Animal instincts awakened Flames embrace me Then settle and dissipate Demons argue and plea But they're all too late Old Scratch appears on que Demons bow and greet Time to pay the devil his dues I knew someday we would meet But I owe nothing to him So why am I here? HA the way my life's been The answer is clear The beast draws near His empty eyes burn mine His staff's inscribed with fear Hourglass atop tells fates time A closer look would reveal The hourglass sands are souls Never make the devil a deal Or forever disgrace the untold The staff strikes the ground The souls flow as fast as fear The last falls and shouts aloud Abandon all hope ye who enters here
