Memories Awakened

The remembrance of past comes harassing so quick, striking me down attempting to play tricks. Sinking my confidence even at this age, leaving me confused and summons the rage. Memories sabotage what once believed gained, self-worth and respect gone with left over pain. Rising themes recognized, my thoughts so trained, fighting them ceaselessly I strive to maintain.  Never wanting the past to come back to play, recollection of a broken heart they truly betray. The stones of pain come tumbling down, I rush to safety yearning not to drown. The walls so strong at least I did think, turning to sand with a momentary blink. It is then I feel stranded in the middle of life, before I gain strength I live with the strife. Rape! Oh so violent is over in short time, memories stay a lifetime recalling the crime. Amazing the grief they scorch on the soul, lasting forever with all attempts to control.
